Madison Square Garden Still Reigns Supreme for Billy Joel Tickets – Forbes
Through the beginning of 2014, Billy Joel has found success with his Madison Square Garden residency. Playing one show per month, the interest in Joel at the Garden has only grown since the arrangement was announced. The Garden remains the most expensive place to see Joel play; so much so that secondary market tickets to see Joel perform in other venues can be seen as a good value.
Billy Joel Madison Square Garden tickets have an average price of $368.81 for all shows at The Garden through December. His next performance at MSG on April 18 has the highest average price on the secondary market, $656 with a $155 get-in price. Tickets for Billy Joel in New York have seen such high demand; it’s 56.7% more expensive to see him at Madison Square Garden than anywhere else.
Across non-MSG performances, Billy Joel tour tickets have an average price of just $235.34. In May, Joel will play some of his biggest shows and take a trip across the country to play three shows at the Hollywood Bowl. Billy Joel Los Angeles tickets have an average price of $238.32 for the three dates, above the non-Garden average, but nowhere near the run on the opposite coast. The three shows at the Hollywood Bowl are also spread out over 11 days, with performances on the 17th, 22nd and 27th, due to the second and third show being added due to initial demand. This is also be the first time in Joel’s storied career he has played the 17,300 capacity venue.
His next show after the Hollywood Bowl run will be June 1 at the US Airways Center, which also comes in slightly above the tour average. Billy Joel Phoenix tickets have an average price of $255 with a get-in price of $58, making it the fourth most expensive concert on Joel’s schedule outside of New York.
The most expensive date comes six days later at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Billy Joel Las Vegas tickets have and average price of $445 with a get-in price of $110. While many artists are setting up their residencies in Vegas, Joel will be stopping by for just one night before heading back to New York.
During the summer months, Joel will also visit some of the best ballparks in baseball for concerts. Stops include Wrigley Field in Chicago, Nationals Park in Washington D.C. and Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, but the most expensive comes at the historic Fenway Park. Billy Joel Fenway Park tickets have an average price of $302.96 and a get-in price of $160. The Fenway show comes in the middle of a 10-game/11-day road trip on the Red Sox schedule and at that average price; the concert is more than double the average price for a Red Sox home game during the 2014 season.
Joel still remains one of the biggest drawing musical artists wherever he plays, but like the sports franchises that play in Madison Square Garden, he definitely has a home field advantage.
