Do you remember Beth Macy’s Sunday centerpiece? She wrote about Carol Wall, a retired teacher who lives in Raleigh Court and is a cancer survivor. She became close with her gardener, an immigrant from Kenya with a doctorate in horticulture and an air of mystery. They struggled with their various problems, but formed a bond. Wall wrote about it in her new book “Mister Owita’s Guide to Gardening.” Beth can tell you about the book better than I can, so keep reading her story if you want to know more.
I’m glad to say I have a copy of the book to give away. It has received excellent reviews, and I love that this book is happening in our community.
I expect whoever reads the book learns something from Wall — something about love, health, letting go, holding on. Something about life. And that word is the crux of this book giveaway. To be eligible to win, I’d like to hear one of your life lessons, a piece of wisdom you’d like to share. It can be as long or short as you like.
I’ll pick a winner next Thursday (March 13). I look forward to hearing what you have to say.
